FIS Mechanical Splice for 125µm Clad Fiber SM or MM
The FIS Mechanical Splice is designed around the popular FIS Lab Splice. The self-gripping clamshell design allows for extremely fast splicing for emergency restorations, which is why we include this splice in our Restoration Tool Kit. For permanent splices, a cyanoacrylate adhesive (e.g. Superglue) may be used to secure the fiber and provide additional pull strength. FIS Mechanical Splices fit into any Fibrlok style splice tray and are affordable enough to keep handy in your tool box, truck, etc. For 125µm clad fiber, either singlemode or multimode. Typical loss .2dB.

3M Fibr lok II Universal Optical Fiber Splice & 3M Fibr lok Assembly Tool

3M Fibrlok uses V groove technology and doesn’t require epoxy.  Uses Fibrlok assembly tool 2501. Splice completed in 30 seconds after preparing fiber ends.  Fibrlok fits 250-900µm buffer sizes.

AMP Corelink Mechanical Splice
The AMP Corelink provides an average splice loss of .15dB on 125µm fiber with an average installation time of 30 seconds. One splice style accepts 250µm to 900µm coating. Two assembly splice keys are provided with set of 12 splices.

Corning Cam Splice 

This easy to install one size fits all mechanical splice features “Cam” locking mechanism, which requires no adhesive. The Corning CamSplice incorporates a unique alignment method that self centers fibers providing accurate alignment. Splice losses of less than 0.5dB are consistently achievable. Fits 250/250µm, 250/900µm and 900/900µm.

ULTRAsplice Singlemode Yellow Mechanical Splice

The ULTRAsplice is a high performance, easy to install tunable and reusable mechanical splice. One splice accepts any combination of buffer sizes from 250µm-900µm.  Average loss is less than .2dB with a fiber retention of over 2 lbs.  Meets and exceeds Bellcore specifications. (Also available in specialty fiber sizes).

Installation is simple: Cleave and insert the fibers, while checking fiber location in the glass capillary, secure by twisting a locking nut.

US-126 is IBM #33G8228, US-128 is IBM #33G8227.

Mechanical Splice Protective Housing

Available from FIS is a metallic protection sleeve that slips over mechanical splices for rugged protection. Install tube and supplied shrink tubes onto cable before installation and apply heat source to fix housing into position.  Accepts all splices sold by FIS.
